Vision

Sunreps envisions a future where every building above the 35th parallel around the world use solar ventilation air preheating — captured simply, built locally, and installed by HVAC professionals. Our goal is to reduce fossil fuel use one RTU at a time across the northern half of the world.

The Sunreps Basic Fabric Transpired Solar Collector System defines simplicity and efficiency in solar pre-heating.

Sunreps began as a solar R&D company and has now evolved into a solar training organization because education is the only barrier to its widespread adoption. Our focus is teaching HVAC professionals, contractors and their designees, building engineers, mechanical engineers and solar enthusiasts.

Originally patented by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), transpired solar collectors have been endorsed and deployed by the U.S. Department of Defense, Air Canada, Ford, and many other major corporations around the world. ASHRAE references the technology, and select universities like Colorado State University include it in engineering coursework. Yet outside of laboratory and mechanical circles, this proven solution remains virtually unknown.

This must change. Transpired solar is 'everyone’s solar' — simple, efficient, and easy to learn. The inventors believed its simplicity could lead to widespread use. We believe they were right, but thus far this view has not caught fire yet.

Fabric collectors are the evolution of SolarWall — the original metal transpired collector. While SolarWall is ideal for large buildings with uninterrupted south walls, Sunreps fabric systems are designed for the other 90% of buildings.

Until now, commercial HVAC had no affordable solar energy product to offer. That’s changed. Sunreps provides HVAC pros with a local, low-cost solar system that pairs perfectly with ECMs and variable speed fans.

Fabric collectors are not difficult to build — but they must be built right. That’s why our training includes the original NREL-developed software and best practices, ensuring every install performs and every collector is tested on site.
